Relatability: The Secret Ingredient for Lasting Connections
Yo Mama Log,
Today, let's talk about something we often overlook when forming relationships, be it personal or professional – 'Relatability'. It's that magic ingredient that turns strangers into friends, colleagues into comrades, and yes, connections into a team.
What's in the 'Relatability' Recipe?
Relatability is that बिंदास feeling when you find someone who shares common ground with you. It could be as simple as having attended the same school or college. Suddenly, you feel at ease, opening up and assisting each other in ways that you might never have expected. Because they understand your journey. And if you've been doing your part, being a good friend, a reliable colleague, these individuals are likely to stick by your side.
My 'Relatability' Diary
Truth be told, I never planned or strategized for this. I was just doing it by default. I was listening to my heart when it came to decision-making, especially hiring and adding people to the team. I was constantly on the lookout for that relatability factor from all sorts of angles.
But around last year, I had a series of enlightening conversations with Anks Patel from Peoplepreneur. Those interactions played a significant role in helping me understand who I was, and that whatever I do is simply an extension of who I am.
That clarity certainly helped.
Let me share with you how relatability has positively impacted my journey. When I was setting up my team, it wasn't just their skills I was looking at. Sure, expertise is important. But what sealed the deal for me was how much I could relate to them. We shared similar journeys, had comparable experiences, and spoke a common language (figuratively and literally!). And believe me, it was this relatability that became the foundation of the team that I'm so proud to be a part of today.
Why 'Relatability' Matters?
Today, I have the right foundations with my team at Team Codesign. The frontline members are all set to extend and expand with a similar vision in mind. This sense of shared purpose, this relatability, will be our driving force in building the dreams we share for the future.
So, the next time you're meeting someone new, don't just look for what they can do, but also for how much you can relate to them. Because in this world that's racing towards the future, it's these bonds of relatability that will hold us together, making our journey more meaningful and joyful.
The 'Relatability' Mantra
In the end, isn't that what we're all looking for? Connections that not just 'work' together, but 'grow' together.
Until the next one,
P.S. Share your own experiences where relatability played a key role. I'd love to hear your stories because as they say, अपनी कहानी छोड़ जा, निशानी छोड़ जा (leave your story behind, leave a mark).
