We're destined to fail - Issue #2
It's inevitable.
Time for a Story
I remember when I had passed my bachelor's but failed to get enough marks for my master's. It seemed like the end of everything. Every one of my batchmates was ahead and doing better in their careers.
I had no idea what I would do in the next few years.
With all that going in my mind, my friend Baban called.
"Hey dutta, kya result aaya" (What's the result)
I said - "Bhai pass hogaya" (Bro, I've passed) in a sombre note
Baban - Congrats, Bhai!
And as soon as he said that, I burst into tears! He had no clue about what happened. By the way, I was crying already before he called.
Baban - Kya Hua Bhai!
Me (Still crying) - "Yaar, I am finished. I couldn't score enough. MCA me admission Nahi milega yaar. I worked hard for this one but nahi hua yaar" (... and I continued with it)
Baban (while being very patient and listening to me) - "Dutta, this is not the end for you. Dekhna, you will do much better in your life. Bas thoda time de khudko and good things will come along."
It's been 8 years since this happened and it's the best thing that ever happened to me. Thanks to Baban, who made me realise that all I need is to acknowledge and move on.
--END OF STORY--
So.
Failures are often part of our life. We fail often and repeatedly.
Whether it's -
Career
Work
Relationships
We are not perfect. No one can be.
But what makes us stand out is how well we come out of failures.
Now, whether you will let your failures define your present, or you will use it as a tool to define your future is your choice.
Failures are hard. You need time to come out of it.
But it's essential to acknowledge your part in it instead of blaming someone else.
It's important to talk it out and get some perspectives.
People who care are always around and will listen to your thoughts and help you escape your failure mode.
Failures are learnings.
Acknowledge, understand what went wrong and how you could have done things better, and don't repeat the mistake.
Eventually, you will keep learning and growing in your life.
What's that one failure which changed things (in a positive way) for you?
Let me know. I'd love to hear your story.
Until then, cheers 🤘
